Desktop readers are used in applications where the tagged item, such as an RFID card or a small tagged item, can be presented to the reader. Desktop readers can be used to read the credentials of an RFID tag for access control or tag provisioning and reprogramming.
For desktop applications, SkyeTek’s MetaFi Agent resides either on the reader or a separate PC on the local network. The readers communicate with the agent using a wired or wireless connection, depending on the features of the reader.
SkyeTek uses products from partners such as Tracient Technologies and IDNOVA for solutions requiring a desktop reader.
